London Irish Rugby Club is delighted to announce Lebara Mobile as a new kit sponsor for the 2010/11 season.
Lebara Mobile, the market leader in providing high quality low-cost international mobile services from the UK, becomes an official partner of the club and will appear on the first team playing shorts. The deal was negotiated by Lebara’s sponsorship agency Essentially.
The company was founded in 2001 as part of the Lebara Group, which offers tailored innovative telecommunications solutions to enable families, friends and colleagues to keep in touch wherever they are in the world. Lebara was ranked as the UK’s fourth fastest-growing private company in the Sunday Times ‘Fast Track 100 Listing’ in 2006, was voted Best Newcomer at the Mobile Industry Awards in 2008, and was recently recognised as delivering the Most Innovative Service at the 2009 Mobile News Awards.
Lebara Mobile launched the first ever low-cost international service in the Netherlands in 2004 and by the start of 2010 their customer base had grown to over 2.5 million across the UK, Netherlands, Denmark, Spain, Switzerland, Australia and Germany.
They already have a successful track record in high-profile sports sponsorship. In May this year they became the official mobile partner to the nine cricket Test Match Grounds in England and Wales and in March sponsored YouTube’s live coverage of the Indian Premier League (IPL). In January, Lebara Mobile was the broadcast partner for Eurosport's coverage of the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations tournament.
Richard Marsh, Commercial Director at London Irish said: "We are delighted to welcome Lebara Mobile on board. We believe that both London Irish and Lebara will be able to drive significant opportunities via our respective international supporter and customer bases.”
Russell Atkinson from Lebara Mobile added: “As our business continues to expand rapidly and successfully we believe that an association with a team known as the Exiles fits perfectly with our strategy to increase our brand awareness within international communities even further.”
