Essentially has dominated the latest poll by NZ Rugby World of the most influential people in New Zealand rugby.
Essentially managed rugby super stars, Dan Carter (1) and Richie McCaw (2), lead the way as the two most influential people in New Zealand rugby. However this time, the “Jerry McGuire of New Zealand rugby”, Warren Alcock (6), and “the affable” Simon Porter (32) are for once sharing the spotlight with their players.
Within rugby circles Warren and Simon are hugely well known, and along with their colleagues they represent in the region of 50 per cent of the professional player market in New Zealand. A former corporate lawyer, Warren is recognised as a tough negotiator whose ability to clinch the big deal is legendary. He was the architect of Dan Carter’s revolutionary sabbatical deal in 2009.
Simon, a former hero of North Otago rugby, has global expertise and is recognised as a fair and intelligent operator. Simon has strong relationships with the big provinces and franchises and issues sage advice to half of New Zealand’s professional players.
